Carers already save the economy billions of pounds every year. However, current population projections mean that more of us will become carers in the future so it is vital that we ensure carers get the support they need and that their voices are heard. Carers Week gives us the opportunity to promote this message loudly and clearly to the general public, politicians, policy makers and others.
Angus Carers Centre staff will be working hard over the next week to ensure that Carers Week and the plight of all of our carers is promote throughout the region. Display boards will be placed in health centres and community hospitals and the young carers team will be found in and around secondary schools in Angus providing drop-ins for young carers.
The highlight of the week however will be our AGM and Carers' Day at Carnoustie Golf Hotel on Wednesday when over 100 carers will join us for a day packed with fun, relaxation and hopefully new friendships. "Funshops" on offer to carers this year include Cupcake Decorating, Wine Tasting, Jewellery Making and Zumba - so there is something for everyone.
